One position at Chelsea that was never really solved in the summer is that of reserve right wing back.
Reece James is first choice by a long way, but just as we have two quality options on the left, we also want two quality options on the right.
Last season saw all manner of players asked to fill in there when James was injured or rested, and clearly there’s a hole to be filled.
None of the options we were interested in came to anything, and in the end Cesar Azpilicueta was signed to a new contract to keep his position as James reserve.
But we have no doubt our interest in a signing will be revived, and according to a story in the Sun today, we could well be returning for Denzel Dumfries, one of the players we were most heavily linked with last summer.
He could be the man we’re looking for.
