Chelsea pair shine despite England struggles against Italy

England’s performance and result against Italy in the Nations League on Friday night was disappointing – but both Chelsea players in the game peformed well.

Jorginho excels in the lower paced international environment, and he controlled the game at a stroll as Italy used their home advantage to take the game to England.

There was only one starter who emerged with any credit for the Three Lions – Reece James.

At right wing back he reinforced his credentials as Gareth Southgate’s first choice while Trent Alexander Arnold is going through bad form, and was England’s best attacking outlet as well as strong defensively.

Raheem Sterling struggled along with the rest of England’s front 3, who were starved of the ball for large parts of the game.

Sterling and James will likely get a rest of some kind in England’s game against Germany on Tuesday, with Mason Mount likely to come in to the team.
