Chelsea interested in PL midfielder set to become a free agent

Attentions have already started to turn to the next couple of transfer windows at Chelsea, even after just having a hugely busy summer window.

It’s clear the ambitions of the new owners are to get the club competing at the very top again on all levels, and that means more squad rebuilding under the new manager, Graham Potter.

Premier League proven players have been a real emphasis in some of the players Chelsea have signed and targeted under the new ownership, and according to The Birmingham Mail, that is set to continue.

They claim that Chelsea are watching the situation of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz and are interested in signing him if he becomes a free agent next summer. Luiz has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract and will be free to speak to other clubs in January regarding a summer move.

Chelsea were also linked with him in the summer window.
