Chelsea were overloaded with wingers this summer, and someone had to draw the short straw.
Most Blues fans would rather have kept Callum Hudson-Odoi and got rid of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic.
But in the end that wasn’t how it played out, and there was more interest in the academy product than in the others.
Callum Hudson-Odoi:
"We don’t know what'll happen between January, or from now until the end of the season, so we just wait and see. But right now, I’m just focusing on playing as much football here as possible and trying to help the team."

So Callum went off to Bayer Leverkusen on loan, where he’s made a bright start to the season.
There’s been chatter about a recall clause in his loan, and CHO himself said that Todd Boehly had insisted that he was in the club’s plans long term.
Asked today about his future – and the chances of a recall – CHO kept his cards close to his chest and said that he was just focused on playing.
If he keeps doing well, and Chelsea can find a January taker for their other wingers, we can certainly forsee a return.
