Broja’s approach to the first team shows madness of summer’s transfer policy

Reports today have gone heavy on the idea that Armando Broja has been impressing Graham Potter in training, and that the Albania international could be in line for a start before too long.

We wouldn’t be surprised – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has looked off the pace, and at 33 it’s going to take a while for him to get up to speed.

There’s no telling if Potter is even going to like him as a player either.

That just points out the madness of Chelsea’s transfer policy this summer. They signed Aubameyang for a hugely inflated fee to keep Thomas Tuchel happy, then sacked the coach after his first wobble.

If they’d sacked him over the summer and brought in Potter then, he might have said he was happy with Broja as his number one option up top, and the club could have focused on another area.

It’s frustrating, but we’re excited to see what the new man has planned for the academy striker.

  1. Broja has a Long way to prove his worth, and neither do we have Time for that. Obviously Aubemayang will be a wiser choice.

  2. There will be enough minute for both of them this season, its up to them to take their chances when they come. Auba wants to prove doubters wrong that he can cut it in the EPL, and Broja wants to push on and cement his place in a team that should challenge for trophies.
