Another senior Red Bull figure turns down Chelsea move

Chelsea are being shut down by their boardroom targets left right and centre, and today Oliver Mintzlaff has added his name to the ever-growing list of people who have turned down the chance to work at Stamford Bridge.

The Red Bull group’s “head of global soccer” has made it very clear in quotes picked up by Football.London that he’s not interested in coming to Chelsea, much as his subordinate Christoph Freund did yesterday.

“I am under contract at Leipzig until 2026 and I will also fulfil my contract,” Mintzlaff said.

“We still have a lot of plans, not only on the pitch but also off it. I feel comfortable where I am.”

He’s the top dog of their operation, and getting him was pretty unrealistic once Freund had turned us down. Todd Boehly will have to continue casting his net wider and wider in his attempts to get people on board who can really take Chelsea forward.

His admiration for the Red Bull model is obvious, just from the selection of targets he’s approaching.
