Why West Ham are content with permanent Emerson transfer

Nizaar Kinsella’s column in the Evening Standard claims that West Ham’s move for Emerson Palmieri is moving along nicely.

The left back has not been a regular option at Chelsea for some time now, and after several loans it looks like the Blues are ready to cut ties, especially after the arrival of Marc Cucurella at the club.

That suits West Ham, for one simple reason.

Kinsella writes that the Hammers are still holding on to see what Chelsea do with other members of their first team squad later in the window. Players like Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja are very much on their list as potential loan signings, and given they can only bring one loan in from each club, it makes sense that they’re happy to make Emerson’s deal a permanent one, to keep the door open for a loan late in the window.

A fee should be agreed in the days to come.
