Timo Werner was not in Chelsea’s matchday squad against Everton yesterday, and sure enough today we’re hearing a rush of leaks that he’s going to leave the club after two disappointing seasons.
The German is being linked by top German insider Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports with a return to RB Leipzig.

Plettenberg’s earlier information was that it could be a loan deal with a buy option, but in the last hour he’s changed his mind to a permanent move, with a fee of €30-35m.

That’s a huge loss for Chelsea, who paid around £47m back in 2020. But at this stage, with Werner’s minutes likely to dwindle further this season, it’s probably for the best that we sell now rather than let that loss grow.
Werner never looked like he would live up to his awesome potential, and while he might score lots of goals in the Bundesliga, he just doesn’t seem like he will succeed at Chelsea.
