Timo Werner has completed a transfer back to RB Leipzig after two years at Chelsea.
The forward played an important role in our Champions League win, and remained popular with Chelsea fans despite his struggles on the pitch at times.
But over the second half of last season it became increasingly clear that he had given up on Chelsea, and that Thomas Tuchel had given up on him too. The writing was on the wall in our friendlies over the summer, and when he was left out of our squad at the weekend.
Timo Werner has completed a permanent transfer to RB Leipzig.

It’s such a shame it didn’t work out. There haven’t been many players we were more excited to sign in terms of the profile we thought they were going to bring.
Chelsea at the time created a lot of chances and couldn’t finish them, and Werner was supposed to be the poacher to change all that.
In the end, he just perpetuated the same issues.
