“There are still idiots like this” – Chelsea release strong official statement

As we are in a new era at Chelsea Football Club under new ownership, we are all learning and getting used to different ways of operating and the club dealing with things.

I don’t think I have ever read such a strongly worded official statement from a club as the one just released on the Chelsea website today, and it is absolutely brilliant.

Sources: Chelsea ready to offer players to Everton for Anthony Gordon!

They refer to a ‘fan’, or more aptly now, a former ‘fan’ as an idiot for his racist signs made towards Tottenham player Son Heung-min on Sunday, as reported by The Evening Standard.

Hopefully this will now be the start of clubs cramping down much harder on these sorts of racist incidents that occur far too often, and then maybe it will have more of an effect.

You can check out the impressive full statement on Chelsea’s website above, but this was the snippet in question, impressive stuff:

“Chelsea has consistently made its zero tolerance position on discriminatory behaviour very clear, yet there are still idiots like this that attach themselves to this club as so called ‘fans’, which shames Chelsea FC, our coaches, players, staff and our true supporters.”
