Mason Mount names his aims for the new season

Today marks the start of Chelsea’s season with a game against Everton. It will be Mason Mount’s fourth in the senior team, and after excelling in the first three, he’s got a lot to live up to.

On the eve of the new season, the club website interviewed him about what his aims for this next campaign were:

“My goal is to win something domestically with this club,” Mount explained.

“The Premier League is huge so to be able to win that would be so special. I don’t think we are favourites to win it, but you never know what can happen. That’s the kind of pressure we put on ourselves: to be able to say we might be underdogs, but we can still perform and still be pushing right up there.”

Those are all good aims, and he will be disappointed that he hasn’t got a domestic trophy already. He made it to an FA Cup final with Frank Lampard as manager, and then two more with Thomas Tuchel as manager, as well as a Carabao Cup final. He’s lost all of them.

This season it might be a stretch to win the Premier League, but getting over the line at Wembley is a very realistic aim for the midfielder.
