Marcos Alonso “really close” to Barcelona move

The arrival of Marc Cucurella at Chelsea has been confirmed today, starting a potential domino run of moves.

Fabrizio Romano has already Tweeted that Barcelona are “really close” to signing Marcos Alonso, who is now no longer needed in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Personal terms had long been agreed, and all parties were just waiting to see if Chelsea would get Cucurella over the line.

Presumably the two clubs had hammered out the majority of the terms, and while there will be some haggling and tweaking still to come, it shouldn’t take long. Chelsea will want the Spaniard off their books now, and Barcelona will want him in Xavi’s squad as soon as possible to start his integration.

Another element apparently lacking is Thomas Tuchel’s green light, but we can’t see that being a sticking point now the Chelsea boss has a clear upgrade on the books.

It’s all falling into place.
