Manchester United move on to mega-money Antony to leave Christian Pulisic stuck at Chelsea

A week ago we were hearing pretty intense and convincing rumours from top sources about Christian Pulisic heading to Manchester United.

Since then, the tables have turned however, and all the talk today is about Ajax winger Antony – with United reportedly having lodged a crazy €140m bid.

So what happened to the Pulisic interest? Fabrizio Romano explains in his column for CaughtOffside.

Apparently United were interested in a loan deal, but Chelsea had ruled that out entirely for a team of their size – especially a league rival.

“Manchester United’s only request for information for Pulisic was a week ago, but Chelsea would not want to accept a loan deal with an important club like Man Utd,” the insider wrote.

But that hasn’t ended his chances of an exit entirely. There’s still at least one other major Premier League side interested, according to Romano.

“Newcastle have also wanted him on loan for months, certainly a decision will be made soon,” he followed up.

Pulisic game off the bench again on Sunday, and it’s becoming clear that he’s not a player Thomas Tuchel wants to build around. He’s frustrated, the fans are frustrated, the manager is frustrated. If someone wants to loan him, we should take it.
