Man U’s Rabiot move leaves De Jong path open for Chelsea

Barcelona are desperate to get rid of Frenkie De Jong and his massive wages – that much is so clear they may as well have said it in an official statement.

The other thing that’s clear is that De Jong doesn’t want to go to Manchester United. They chased him for a long time and he never made an indication of any interest to go there. Hence Barcelona’s frustration.

Chelsea have moved later than United, but De Jong seems more interested in a move to London. Barca aren’t bothered where he goes – they just want rid of him.

So the news that Man U are close to signing Adrien Rabiot is interesting. As Jacob Steinberg writes in the Guardian, it probably ends their interest in De Jong.

That puts Chelsea, who would like De Jong but don’t need him, in a very strong position. If Barca lower their asking price enough, we can snap him up. But with United out of the race, the pressure is now on the Catalan club to make a deal happen with us.

  1. the fact that youre aiming to be taken seriously in the journalistic world and yet for the lack of shame in typing Manchester United as “Man U” is mind boggling. as the famous Special One once proclaimed R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!! get your journalistic standards on point
