Chelsea’s squad starts to take shape as departures begin to match arrivals

The news that Timo Werner has agreed a deal to return to RB Leipzig is the first sign that Chelsea’s new squad is taking shape.

The additions have been coming thick and fast – starting with Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. They have since been joined by a host of youngsters and Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

But the question of where the players already on our books would go has been hanging over us, and it’s a relief to hear that one has been shifted already. Werner leaves, with Sterling effectively taking his place.

We still expect Hakim Ziyech to be considered to be up for sale, if there’s any interest. Then there’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, who last night was being linked with Premier League teams after missing out on the squad to face Everton.

If we engineer a deal for Frenkie de Jong, we could yet see a surprising departure in midfield too.

  1. Stop pushing for the purchase of Barcelona players! They ruined our transfer window, we shouldn’t give them money to register them. Let them suffer or find another way. Do not feed the mouth that bites your fingers
