Chelsea will pay a final fee of £55m for Marc Cucurella, plus £7m in add ons.
That’s a monster fee – far more than Man City were willing to pay, but it comes with an important caveat. Rather than selling Levi Colwill to the Seagulls, as had been the agreement as recently as 24 hours ago, Chelsea will now only send him on loan.

Despite Brighton’s insistence last night that no fee was in place, rumours have continued today from top sources that the clubs are closing in on an agreement, and it sounds a lot like we could see the deals confirmed tomorrow.
It was insisted by everyone from the very start that the Colwill deal was separate from the Cucurella deal, and while that may technically be true, they’re clearly interrelated to a large degree, as we’ve seen with the way that an increase in the payment for the full back leading to a change in Brighton’s stance on their terms for Colwill.
