Chelsea will have to make “dizzying” offer to secure 33 year old striker

Chelsea are being linked more and more strongly with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Barcelona, but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be easy to sign the former Arsenal forward, who joined the Catalan club in January.

CaughtOffside quote sources in Spain saying that it would have to be a “dizzying” offer to persuade Barca to sell.

They may have Robert Lewandowski up top, and they may need to raise money, but they like P-EA and Xavi wants to keep him around.

To us, that really rules out a deal. Chelsea already know it’s a risk to sign a player that old, one that may be worth taking if he can raise the team’s standard for a year or two.

But a big fee just increases that risk further, and we can’t see us buying anyone unless Barcelona are keen to sell them. Thomas Tuchel knows him and likes him, but even he will accept that paying over the odds is a bad idea.
