Chelsea sell 18 year old talent as part of academy refresh

Young Chelsea talent Edwin Andersson has completed a move to Stoke City.

The Swede has been at Stamford Bridge playing in the youth teams for two years, but as part of the great restructure of the development squad this season, it’s been decided to move him on.

For all his ability, the addition of several signings to our younger groups is causing a bit of bloating, and there were always going to have to be some departures to compensate, and the winger looks to have drawn the short straw.

Perhaps it’s for the best – as we’ve seen in many cases, endless loans are not the best career path for players who might not cut it in the first team.

While he might not be cut out for Chelsea at this stage, Andersson is still a great talent, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him make an impact in the Championship this season despite his tender years.

Good luck our there Edwin!
