Chelsea handed first big injury boost of new season

There’s no more sure sign that we’re on the cusp of a new season than the first piece of injury news for an upcoming game.

In this case, Chelsea fans will be relieved to read it’s our opposition who are struggling in this case, not us.

We face Everton in our opening game of the season on Sunday, in the televised match which will draw plenty of curious eyes. The Toffees only just avoided relegation last season, and look in big trouble again this time around. They’ve sold their talismanic striker Richarlison, and the man they’re relying on to replace his goals – Dominic Calvert-Lewin – is now out for Sunday’s game according to Sky Sports.

That makes Everton a truly toothless team up top, and Chelsea should be able to capitalise on it. We’re hardly the finished product either, but we’re a lot better than them, especially in this rather damaged state.
