Chelsea “expected to be successful” with £12m bid for wonderkid

Chelsea have almost won the race to sign Inter Milan talent Cesare Casadei, Jacob Steinberg reports in The Guardian today.

The central midfielder has yet to make a senior appearance for the Serie A side, but has attracted a lot of attention for his obvious talent.

It was reported two weeks ago that Chelsea were interested, but they’ve had to fight off Nice, who have made tempting offers to Inter which include a buy back clause.

But Steinberg writes that Chelsea are “expected to be successful” with their third offer of around £12m. That’s quite the price to pay for someone with 0 senior appearances, showing just how much we must rate him.

Given the options we have in midfield, a loan back to Serie A or maybe to the Championship to help him acclimatise to midfield seems the most likely outcome, especially given his lack of senior football so far in his career.
