Chelsea attackers “believe Tuchel’s system” is the problem with Blues attack

This morning’s rumours about Manchester United’s interest in taking Christian Pulisic on loan has triggered some wider stories about Chelsea’s attack players.

The Evening Standard have an article from Nizaar Kinsella about the move with a particularly eyebrow raising sentence.

Chelsea apparently have “several unhappy attacking players who believe Tuchel’s system inhibits their ability to be effective attackers.”

Now we’re sorry, but either this is not true or these players are deluded. You don’t have to watch many Chelsea games to see that there are plenty of attacking outlets, and it’s usually down to bad finishing when the Blues don’t win.

Yes it’s not the most all out attack we’ve ever seen, but it’s still a dominant style that controls the ball high up the pitch, presses and creates bucket loads of chances for these apparently unhappy attackers.

Who was at fault on Sunday – Thomas Tuchel or Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling who both missed big chances?

  1. To my own view, I don’t know if Tuchel do challenge his attackers in dressing room before coming out to play on the pitch. Because I’ve seen no reason an attacker should be resting while midfielders are feeding. They are really reluctant. Please Tuchel ignite pressure on them.

  2. What about Loftus Cheek , he just shyed away from an easy header .These players should practice practice practice until they get it right !

  3. Keep saying it,—-we have not got anyone who can shoot straight on a regular basis. We are used to having Drogba, Costa, Lampard. Then, when we go for someone, we dither, about the price, and he goes to another team, and we finish up with a desperate signing, such as Lukaku. Look back at all those we missed. !!!!!1

  4. I couldn‘t agree more. Why on earth is Chelsea interested in forwards that have no real credentials as a TOP scoring forward when if they were prepared to move quickly, there are very good forwards to be had. We need to look outside the premier league, like Liverpool and dare I say it, I‘ll wash my mouth out later, The Gunners.
Come on the Blues, identify the goal scorer you want and go for him-simple!!!

  5. Had he not winning champions league, Tuchel won’t be at Chelsea
He clearly shows he does not know chelsea through team selection..

  6. we have broja, why not start playing him consistently?
i see a new diego cost here.
werner was given entire two seasons to “settle”.
    havertz can take a breather.

  7. I agree they should give Broja a start, Leeds would be a good team to start with. The problem is that Havertz has been out of form, but is clearly getting back into it. Sterling is very out of form, ball control is poor and decision making, does work hard but we need more from him. It is interesting that both our goals were scored by defenders. Mason is also a bit off his standard. As we have the 5 sub rule I would start with Pulisic, Broja and Ziyech in the first half and see what happens. Maybe a bit high risk but the front three are not scoring anyway so worth a punt.
