Top transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Wesley Fofana.
That means that all that’s left is for the Blues to agree a fee with Leicester – no mean feat.
As is commonly the case in deals like this, despite “tapping up” rules, the buying club and the player make contact to agree an outline of what the contract between them will be. This stops clubs wasting their time negotiating back and forth only to find that the player doesn’t want the move.
Wesley Fofana has agreed personal terms with Chelsea, so the contract would be ready in case the two clubs find an agreement. 🚨🔵 #CFC
Chelsea are preparing a new bid as they want Fofana as priority target. Leicester insist on their position. Tough one, but still open. pic.twitter.com/DmtCm47M31

Usually once that’s done, it’s down to the clubs to agree a mutually beneficial amount. But don’t count on that being easy in this case. Leicester want what looks like a world record amount for their centre back, and while Chelsea are willing to pay almost anything it seems this summer, even they will know when they’re being ripped off.
Keep a close eye on this situation – with a contract agreed, it can all happen very quickly.
