Chelsea agree first stage of Kepa loan deal to Serie A

We’ve had two summers in a row full of rumours linking Kepa with a move away from Chelsea, but we’ve never really been convinced. They’ve never gone beyond the stage of very general talk of “interest” in our backup goalkeeper.

That’s changed with this summer’s links to Napoli though, and we’re starting to get enough detail about moves behind the scenes that we’re convinced that talks are at least taking place.

The Corriere Dello Sport say that the wages are agreed – Chelsea will pay 75% and Napoli 25% – and that now the negotiations are about the fee the Italians pay, plus any extra bonuses that will be added to the mix.

Presumably there are talks about a set fee to make the deal permanent too.

As the article points out, the pressure is on Napoli here to get the deal done, with their season starting on the 15th of August, with no first team goalkeeper in place yet.
