Chelsea have just confirmed on the club’s official website that Callum Hudson-Odoi will go to Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the rest of this season.
The winger came close to moving to the Bundesliga as a teenager, and now will get the chance to try it some years later. It’s noted by Chelsea that there is a January recall option in the deal.
Hudson-Odoi had a brief spell playing regularly last season when injuries and Covid made him undisputed first choice on the wing for a while.
But as we’ve seen a few times in his career so far, he wasn’t able to turn some good moments and some good games into a long run of good form, and before long he had dropped down the pecking order again.
The hope is that this loan move will give him a solid platform to play every week at a good level. We’ve all seen the talent – good luck Callum!
