The news about a potential move for Marc Cucurella happened so suddenly and with such certainty from the insiders reporting it that we were guilty of almost considering it a done deal.
But that’s not the case, and just as Man City were eventually rebuffed by Brighton’s tough defensive stance over their left back, Chelsea may yet find themselves put off by a prohibitively high asking price.
No change to @OfficialBHAFC hard-line stance re Cucurella. They don’t want to sell. No agreement on fee as yet. Told deal still some way off but obviously that can change v quickly. Selling club in strong position.

Simon Stone of the BBC reports that Brighton simply don’t want to sell, meaning they’re happy to ask sky high prices for the Spain international.
He reports that a deal is “some way off,” although he admits that can change “very quickly.”
Brighton are in a strong position, as he points out, but Chelsea know in the end that £50m will get the deal done.
If you’re going to pay eventually, you may as well pay now, just to get th player into training as soon as possible.
