Fabrizio Romano is today reporting that Barcelona asked for €30m for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang over the weekend.
Chelsea, understandably, want to spend “way less than this.”
Now for us, a €30m asking price is about €27m too high for a player who is 33. Barcelona really want to keep him, and there’s no point paying the astronomical number it would take to change their mind.
But Thomas Tuchel is apparently convinced he’s the missing part of the puzzle, and is willing to make a deal happen.
Barcelona have asked around €30m fee for Pierre Aubameyang during the weekend, Chelsea wanted to spend way less than this. Talks continue, as Marcos Alonso is still part of the conversations. 🚨🔵 #FCB

There’s also confirmation from Romano that Marcos Alonso is “part of the conversations.” Using him as a makeweight would reduce the price – but given Barca seem to want to buy him anyway, it would still be a net loss for us.
Surely there are better, cheaper options out there than the man who Arsenal were basically happy to pay to get rid of less than a year ago?
