Todd Boehly is hosting a dinner for the executives of the rest of the Premier League clubs to introduce himself to the group ahead of the new season.
The exclusive story comes from David Ornstein in the Athletic. After completing his takeover of Chelsea with his “Clearlake Capital” group back in May, Boehly has been busy with the hectic transfer of power, along with conducting the team’s transfer business personally.
Boehly has also been in LA recently where he observed preseason training and continued to familiarise himself with the squad and the coaching staff. It’s an awkward time to take over, and it feels like he’s still playing catch-up.
The timing fits – Premier League shareholders will meet in London on Tuesday for their latest meeting, and Boehly’s dinner will take place later that evening.
The gesture has been “well received” by the other owners. Well, everybody likes a free dinner.
