Mason Mount “excited” for new season despite lack of transfer action

Nizaar Kinsella has started off his spell at the Evening Standard with an exclusive interview with Mason Mount, who was promoting his charity “Together for Short Lives.”

The journalist was able to get in some football questions though, including on the season ahead with the new ownership in place.

“It is a new era, so we all feel very excited and, whenever a new season comes around, you are excited about what’s possible,” Mount said.

“I can’t wait to see what happens,” he continued, presumably talking about the transfer window.

We can’t wait either Mason – it all seemed to be moving in the right direction after a Champions League win in 2021. Last season felt like a season of stagnation after a bright start and two cup final defeats, and now the loss of three first team players gives us the dreadful sense we might be moving backwards.

There will be a much more exciting feel around the place once we’ve made some signings – but as it stands, none feel particularly close.

Mount has done a lot on his own – but he needs help from his club now.
