Insider reveals the player that Todd Boehly really wants to sign for Chelsea

Todd Boehly is one of the busiest people in football right now as he fights against time to bring Thomas Tuchel what he wants to compete in the Premier League again this season.

The new Blues owners already started the window well behind everyone else due to sanctions and the takeover. But they will feel even more behind right now with much more transfer business to be done and time drastically running out.

There are player departures to still handle, and then replacements for said players. Tuchel wants reinforcements at the back and in attack, but there is a lot to do.

Could Chelsea decide to now make a late attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo? I certainly wouldn’t totally write that off even though it has seemed that Tuchel didn’t want to sign him.

However, insider Dean Jones told Give Me Sport this week, that Boehly really wants to sign Ronaldo.

Jones said: “Obviously, Atletico is opening up as the most plausible option here and now, but we’ve just seen Chelsea lose 4-0 to Arsenal, we’ve seen Tuchel talking about not being particularly happy and we know they need goals in that team.

“Boehly really wants him as an icon and as a guaranteed goalscorer. They’re finding some options that fit into this team but, if it comes down to none of them working out, I think he’ll say ‘Ronaldo is there. Let’s get him’.

“That will put Tuchel in a tricky situation because, with Lukaku last year, he ended up taking a top striker that didn’t fit in. He might be in that situation again with Ronaldo.”
