De Ligt will only join Chelsea if Bayern don’t decide to pay what Juve want for him, according to latest updates from Germany

Bayern Munich want to sign Matthijs de Ligt, and de Ligt wants to sign for Bayern.

That’s the brutal reality Chelsea are having to accept now, just 24 hours or so after they still seemed absolute frontrunners to sign the defender from Juventus.

After the initial hints of Bayern interest yesterday, the situation has really crystalised now.

If Bayern don’t sign him, it will be a question of the fee to Juventus, and not the personal terms, claimed Kerry Hau of SportBild today, after assuring his readers that personal terms between the Dutch international and De Ligt were agreed.

Chelsea, having backed out of the Kounde deal, seen Raphinha stolen off their plate, and missed out on various other moves in the last few week alone, are seemingly watching their entire transfer window strategy evaporate in front of their eyes.

Losing De Ligt simply because Bayern offer a better place to play would be a bitter blow – and leave us really scraping the barrel for centre back options.

  1. What do plate and utter nonsense, Bayern can’t afford to buy him, Juve are simply just creating rumours to up the price and fools believe it.

  2. Simply stop mucking about and put in a proper bid of £75m – £80m pushing BM out of the bidding! CFC are taking too much time on critical transfer needs.
