Chelsea’s transfer plans are at a critical stage, so perhaps it’s no surprise that the latest update on their window from Jacob Steinberg at the Guardian is so packed full of details on so many different players.
Right in the final sentence, there’s an interesting note on Denzel Dumfries. It makes sense that Chelsea want to sign a right wing back to support Reece James, especially with Cesar Azpilicueta likely to leave the club. But so far we’ve heard almost no convincing rumours about any potential targets.
Dumfries of Inter’s name has been mentioned before, but only really in passing. Could this be the start of a new wave of interest in him?
Steinberg writes that Thomas Tuchel is “looking at” the former PSV man, but there’s no telling how intense the interest is. It seems like the priority has to be to sign another centre back, and after that wing back might become important.
