Chelsea “explored” the option of signing RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele yesterday, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The well sourced Italian transfer guru has confirmed that PSG are going to sign the versatile defender, but the Blues tried a last minute attempt to persuade him away – perhaps having realised they’d missed out on Jules Kounde – but a deal was already in place with the Parisians.
Final details have been resolved right now. Nordi Mukiele will 100% join Paris Saint-Germain, traveling soon to undergo medical tests between tonight/tomorrow. Here we go confirmed. 🚨🇫🇷 #PSG

It shows that another defender – one who can play on the right as well as the centre – is clearly one of Chelsea’s ongoing priorities.
The problem they will find this late in the window, as in this case, is that either players have already agreed moves, as in this case, or they’re only available at a crazy price.
Our attempt to save money here and there last summer – on Aurelien Tchouameni and on Jules Kounde – is likely going to end up costing us a whole lot more now.
