Cesar Azpilicueta “one step” from Barcelona after replacement deal agreed

Chelsea have been locked in an odd transfer continuum with Barcelona this summer, especially in terms of defenders.

Andreas Christensen went to join Barca on a free transfer, and then the club challenged Chelsea in their chase for his replacement, Jules Kounde.

It seems like the Blues have now finally won that battle, which in turn opens the door for Cesar Azpilicueta to leave and join… Barcelona.

It’s an odd one – if Barcelona had been able to sign Kounde, would they then have not signed Azpi? Either way, well connected Spanish paper Sport write today that the veteran is “one step” from becoming a Barca player, with just the confirmation of the Kounde deal being required before there are green lights all round.

It will be a sad day for fans to watch Azpilicueta go. He’s won everything with the club, and never showed anything less than 100% commitment to Chelsea.

  1. Barcelocas basuras son unos pordioseros miserables que dicen no tener dinero pretendiendo recibir todo regalado, y aún así reduciendo salarios pero los jugadores también se dejan humillar por ellos.
