Burnley star player Maxwel Cornet ‘being tracked’ by the Blues

After a fresh link in the last days regarding Chelsea keeping tabs on Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet, it has now been backed up by another source in The Athletic.

The report mentions Cornet is ‘being tracked’ by the Blues, but may only become a key target if Chelsea miss out on other players.

Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, the Clarets ‘expect’ the Ivory Coast international to depart, with his £17.5 million relegation cause active.

I would not be surprised if Chelsea take a punt at this, considering he is available for a cheap price and performed well last season, bagging nine league goals in a struggling side.

Not only this, but his versatility (originally a winger) is an important aspect of his game, where he can play at left wing-back and would fit nicely into Tuchel’s system.

With the futures of Marcos Alonso and the returning loanees Emerson Palmieri and Ian Maatsen remain up in the air, it feels like a situation to keep an eye on.
