Chelsea full-back Ian Maatsen, who impressed on loan Coventry last season is set to miss out on Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the US.
According to Football London’s, Adam Newson, Maatsen has not been named in the Blues’ squad that travels to the USA tomorrow for the club’s pre-season training in Los Angeles.
There was an ‘expectation’ that he would be given an opportunity to impress Tuchel in the US, but it seems this isn’t to be the case and will remain at Cobham where he will continue training.
The Dutchman, who was named Coventry’s Young Player of the Year last season, could look for a move elsewhere with Premier League clubs showing interest and has already ‘turned down’ a move to Feyenoord.
I am surprised Maatsen hasn’t made the squad and would have thought he’d have gotten the chance to impress to Tuchel, since Marcos Alonso’s future looks to be away from Chelsea and Emerson Palmieri’s looks uncertain.
He should have being given the chance to prove him self since alonso is not stayin,,,
