We’re into the final stretch of the Romelu Lukaku saga now – for this summer at least.
The striker is on his way back to Inter Milan, and all the numbers appear to have been agreed between the clubs. It’s just a matter of sorting out the formalities now, and that’s well underway.
Next up is the medical and Football Italia report that could happen next week. That already feels a little distant, considering how quickly things have moved in the last 7 days.
Once that’s done, it’s just a matter of the final signatures. Chelsea will already be looking at their options for replacing the forward, which will be no easy feat given they aren’t actually getting any money for him, apart from an initial €8m loan fee.
It’s mad to think, it’s less than a year since he was doing his medical to come the other way. What a turnaround.
