Ruben Loftus-Cheek is being linked with Lazio a lot recently, and today the links have taken a step forward with the midfielder’s agent speaking openly about the transfer rumours.
Jonathan Barnett – better known as Gareth Bale’s representative – admitted that his client was a fan of Serie A and didn’t close a door on a move, although he noted that there had been no contact between the Roman club and Chelsea.
“Lazio have not spoken with Chelsea that I know of, although Sarri is a fan of him and he likes Serie A. Let’s see what will happen.”
A lot will depend on Chelsea’s other transfer activity. If they manage to secure Declan Rice or another one of their targets, RLC could be up for sale.
But if they end up using their whole budget on their desperate need for defenders, his long anticipated move to Lazio might have to wait another year.
He showed his versatility this season, when Thomas Tuchel used him in various different positions – and that will be a tricky thing for Chelsea to give up.
