Marina to help Todd Boehly take over as transfer chief

Todd Boehly is clearly an excellent businessman, and one who already has success and experience owning sports teams, but he doesn’t know anything about conducting transfer business as a director of football, and that’s exactly what he will have to do now.

This morning Chelsea announced their new structure and their new board, following yesterday’s news that chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia are being replaced.

New owner Boehly looks set to take over Marina’s role in charge of conducting transfer business, although the Guardian’s report on the changes claim she will stay in place until the end of this window to help ease the transition.

The loaning out of Romelu Lukaku in the coming days is going to represent one of the worst bits of business the club has ever done, and it’s a pretty sour note for Granovskaia to go out on. Let’s hope the club are brewing up some interesting moves to make up for it.
