We heard a bit about Chelsea interest in Nathan Ake in recent weeks, although it wasn’t from the best sources.
The initial links were backed up by TalkChelsea, who claimed that the Blues were keen to sign a Premier League experienced central defender.
Now we’ve got word from Fabrizio Romano, basically considered one of the top sources around. His column on CaughtOffside claims that there is serious interest from the Blues in Ake, who is apparently “highly rated” by their manager Thomas Tuchel.
Also mentioned in the story is Jules Kounde, where things appear to be rather jammed, with the Spanish side asking for €65m and Chelsea not willing to pay.
If that continues to be the case, we wouldn’t be surprised to see pretty rapid movement on the moves for Ake and others as Chelsea look to get their alternatives lined up quickly, to increase pressure on Sevilla if nothing else.
