Fabrizio Romano lists interesting option for new Chelsea sporting director

It was announced this morning that Petr Cech was leaving Chelsea, and already Fabrizio Romano is pumping out Tweets with speculation about who might replace him.

Chelsea’s entire football operation was pretty much run between Cech and Marina Granovskaia, and with both departing in one fell swoop, midway through the summer transfer window, there is a critical need to find a replacement.

Fabrizio Romano has already got a Tweet up claiming that Chelsea are looking at “3/4 options”, including the well known Michael Edwards, who has just left Liverpool after a superb spell there.

He looks a tough get, but the new name in Romano’s Tweet is Maxwell, currently the “assistant sporting director” at PSG.

Formerly known as Zlatan’s friend who would follow him from club to club, Maxwell has been working under the departing Leonardo in Paris, and may now want to strike out on his own.

Whether he would be a good choice or not is harder to say.

  1. La salida de Petr Cech da incertidumbre, será que no vio con buenos ojos éste proyecto y para ajuste de malas quieren traer gente de un equipo fracasado como el psg… esto pinta mal no me gusta nada.
