Maurizio Sarri is keen on signing Emerson Palmieri to join him at Lazio, according to the Corriere dello Sport today.
The piece outlines the situation – the defender is on loan at Lyon until the end of this month. They will not exercise their purchase option.
We think there’s a chance that Thomas Tuchel wants to keep Emerson at Chelsea next season as a backup to Ben Chilwell, but we’re sure the club could also be persuaded to sell if the price is right.
Emerson is happy to rejoin Sarri, having enjoyed their shared time together at Stamford Bridge.
The price set in his loan to Lyon was €15m, and it’s assumed that that will remain the price here, after a season in France where he didn’t do particularly well or particularly badly.
That’s an affordable price for Lazio, and probably gives Chelsea enough money to find a replacement.
