€25m clause makes Chelsea target all the more tempting

It looks like Thomas Tuchel’s patience with Marcos Alonso has run out, and that the coach will sanction the sale of the left back this summer, with a new backup to Ben Chilwell then needed.

The Blues have been linked with Borna Sosa of Stuttgart as a potential option, and a report from Sport Bild today, translated by Inside Futbol, makes him a much more tempting target.

They claim that the left back has a €25m release clause, making him instantly affordable, and meaning Chelsea can move for him quickly, without worrying about getting dragged into extended negotiations or a bidding war.

If it’s true, and if it’s true that Chelsea want him, it’s a pretty appealing deal. The question will really come down to the player, and whether he’s content to play a limited number of games, barring another serious injury to Chilwell.

The clause applies to other clubs as well as Chelsea, and time may be of the essence.
