Chelsea’s squad surgery for the summer has begun, and we’re already hearing about moves the Blues could make to improve.
The Athletic have a really in depth look at the whole squad, including the players returning from loan who could play a Trevoh Chalobah-like role next season.
Dujon Sterling is named as a player who could be “useful” for Tuchel, especially given his versatility. After a couple of bad injuries, he had a really good spell with Blackpool in the Championship last season, and it’s easy to see him slotting in as a reserve wing back on both sides.
Of course, we will still be linked with big names as replacements for Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta if they leave, but if the club are looking to deploy this summer’s spending in other places, Sterling could be a great option to tide us over for the year – and maybe for beyond that if he does well.
