De Ligt now Chelsea’s top priority over Kounde

Goal.com’s Italian correspondent Romeo Agresti has today doubled down on Chelsea’s interest in Matthijs De Ligt of Juventus.

He claims that the Blues have two meeting this week with the Italian club to try and sort out a deal for the defender.

Instead of paying full price, Chelsea will apparently offer a host of players as potential part exchange targets for Juve to take their pick from – something we had recently heard they weren’t interested in.

Nizaar Kinsella backed up that news by quote Tweeting it, and adding that De Ligt seems to be the priority signing now that Todd Boehly has taken control, moving ahead of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

We’re not sure if he’s implying that that’s causation or just correlation, but it’s interesting to note nonetheless.

We expect major news in at least one of these signings before the end of the week, although much will depend on the outcome of the meetings in the next couple of days.
