Conor Gallagher claims he hasn’t thought about a return to Chelsea

Conor Gallagher has finished his outstanding season at Crystal Palace, and before his future can be decided, he has a potentially influential spell of international duty with England.

The four Nations League games coming up over the next fortnight provide the perfect platform for the midfielder to show his good form isn’t just temporary, and also means that the big decisions about what he should do next season are pushed down the line.

Chelsea fans have been arguing about what we should do with Conor since about November, so it’s impressive to hear he’s not been too bothered.

“I have not really had time to think about it to be honest,” Gallagher told the Evening Standard.

“The long season at Palace has only just finished really and then I have come here with England.

“I am going to be honest that’s all I am thinking about, the next four games here. I want to do well. I have not really thought about it.”

Do we believe him? In the main, yes. We don’t think he’s the kind of guy to get preoccupied with the future when there’s a present to be lived.

On the other hand, he would really have to be blinkered to not see that a path to the first team has been opening up for him this whole time.
