Chelsea’s hopes of De Ligt swap deal crushed by Juventus position

Chelsea want to buy players this summer, but they also want to sell them, so a part exchange swap deal is an ideal situation for them.

One player they would apparently love is the Juventus centre back Matthijs de Ligt, and if they could knock his price down by palming off an unwanted player on them.

Unfortunately for the Blues, swap deals are hard to pull off, and according to a report in Caughtoffside today, the Old Lady aren’t interested in taking a player from us – they just want the cash straight up, and they want a pretty hefty amount too.

This may end up being what kills the deal. There’s no way Chelsea are shelling out the kind of money that Juve want on a player who has hardly been a hundred million Euro success in Serie A.

It looks like we will have to look elsewhere for a centre back – and we will have to look elsewhere for a buyer for Timo Werner.
