Chelsea want a Premier League central defender to balance foreign signing

Chelsea want to sign a defender from the Premier League this summer to complement arrivals from abroad, according to an interesting exclusive on TalkChelsea today.

We all know the targets from abroad we’re linked with most regularly – Jules Kounde et al. But the Blues want to balance that with a player who has at least some experience in the English top flight.

The names mentioned in the piece are Max Kilman, Adam Webster, Nathan Ake and Wesley Fofana, although there are presumably others being monitored.

It’s not certain whether the new ownership will follow though path, although it seems like a sensible policy, as there’s already likely to be a major influx from other leagues this summer.

On the other hand, there’s a major premium on Premier League players, particularly the English ones, and fans tend to prefer the exotic unknown of a foreign import to the devil they know.
