Chelsea interested in ‘transfer guru’ Michael Edwards

Following the departure of Marina Granovskaia, who controlled transfer negotiations, Chelsea are beginning to look elsewhere and reshape their hierarchy.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are interested in former Liverpool director Michael Edwards.

Edwards, labelled the ‘transfer guru’, joined the Merseyside club in 2011 as head of analytics and after a number of promotions saw him eventually become a sporting director.

During his time at Anfield, the 43-year-old was a key figure in guiding Liverpool to success – pulling off some amazing signings, including the likes of; Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Thiago, Andy Robertson and Fabinho.

He also secured an impressive £146m for Phillipe Coutinho in his transfer to Barcelona.

But Chelsea may face tough competition for the signature of Edwards, with Manchester United also interested.

It remains to be seen whether Edwards would be keen on returning to football, who is understood to be ‘hesitant’ having only left Liverpool this summer.

It is seen he initially wanted a break from the game.
