Thomas Tuchel was asked right away about Romelu Lukaku’s showing tonight after the Belgian got a goal in a solid performance.
As we suspected, Tuchel was planning to take the striker off, but was persuaded to leave him on to let him try and score a deserved goal – which he eventually did.
Even so, instead of dwelling on the striker’s performance, Tuchel quickly moved on to pointing out how happy he was for Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic.
It continues the manager’s trend of not going overboard on praise for players.
