Todd Boehly will become controlling owner of Chelsea FC with consortium’s expression of faith

Chelsea Football Club will soon have a new owner officially confirmed.

Todd Boehly and his consortium have all but got the club now bar a few final things to tie up.

Chelsea make enquiry to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Independent expect him to be officially in place before the end of the season, with an eye on the Watford game on 22 May.

Much has been said about Clearlake Capital’s involvement and majority shareholding. But it looks like it will be Boehly himself who will be the controlling owner of Chelsea, as reported in the same write up.

Clearlake Capital co-founder Behdad Eghbali will work closely with Boehly and will reportedly take an active role in major financial decisions.

That confidence in Boehly taking the controlling ownership role is reportedly understood to represent a ‘major expression of faith’ in the prospective new Chelsea owner’s judgement. Boehly and Eghbali enjoy ‘a close and robust’ working relationship.

It seems to me like it is a good recipe for success.
